Egg Before Chicken

Now you know.

Chicken and Waffles Forever

When Texas was fighting a war for independence from Mexico in 1836, Texans occupied the Alamo, a former Franciscan Mission. They held out for 13 days before they were defeated by Mexican forces. Even though they lost, the battle symbolizes (to quote history.com) “an enduring symbol of their resistance to oppression and their struggle for independence, which they won later that year.”

Why did Texans want independence from Mexico you ask? Mexico banned slavery in 1829 and Texas was the new model for slave states.
