Egg Before Chicken

Now you know.

  • The theme was Digital Frontier - see the Oregon Trail reference?

  • Our simulated people are super sad that they have a data leak that is making them lethargic.

  • This is what will happen if you don't save them!

  • This is how we save them!

  • The people who will save you!

Electric Sky 2018

Jetsam

We made an interactive adventure game for Electric Sky where participants save a simulated society who’s running on a machine without enough memory.  Here’s some art I made explaining the game:

There was quite a complicated backstory. Basically,  simulated people are plagued by a black hole in their world, a visual representation of the mechanical memory leak. Naturally,  the Oregon Trail is involved as the theme of the festival is “The Digital Frontier.”

Your job (as a player) was to save the simulated people from their data leak. Here’s a couple of our kiosks below that gave the player their choose-your-own-adventure-like instructions. They flicked on like they were analog arc lights when they sensed you were near. Pretty cool if I may say so myself.

Most kiosks included sensors that detected your actions like pressure (see how long  you can sit still here!) to detecting if players were able to save a stuffed animal from a tube. If you failed, you died of dysentery (Oregon Trail reference!) and were told about it via a laser writing it in the treeline.

We’re def light on the pictures from the event this year. I’m going to say that’s because we were in the moment!
